The beautiful Christmas lights are turned on, and the magical reindeer parade has come and gone, which means that Christmas is well and truly in full swing in Cowbridge. To continue this festive spirit in the town, there are a number of other Christmas events and dates for your diary.
The Big Screen Cinema will be popping up in Cowbridge Town Hall on Thursday 11th December for a special screening of Elf, everyone’s favourite modern Christmas film. The wearing of Christmas jumpers and other festive attire is encouraged, and there will be ice cream and mince pies available during the interval. You can even bring along your own festive tipple to enjoy with paper cups provided. The town hall doors will open at 7pm and the film will begin at 7.30pm. Tickets are only £4, and are available from the Town Hall Clerk’s office.
The following evening, on Friday 12th December, Refresh will be staging Cowbridge’s own walking Nativity. Meeting outside the library at 6pm, the audience will follow Mary and Joseph along their journey to Bethlehem through the atmospheric venue of the Old Hall Gardens and the Physic Gardens. Narrators will be accompanying the audience to tell the famous Christmas story as you encounter shepherds and wise men before arriving at the manger scene. There will also be carol singing, as well as refreshments and a warm drink provided free of charge. For more information, you can contact Sue on 01446 775947.
On Saturday 13th December there will then be a special event held outside Cowbridge Town Hall in opposition of the test drilling due to take place on agricultural land in Llantrithyd. A petition has been created to ask the landowners not to allow Coastal Oil and Gas Ltd to drill for gas, also known as fracking, which will be presented at this special festive event. The event also aims to highlight the dangers of fracking and how it can affect the surrounding area.
The festivities will start outside Cowbridge Town Hall at 11am with live music, mince pies, a four legged friend, and a special guest to deliver the petition. You can read more information about the campaign, and sign the petition here.
Cowbridge is a flurry of festive activity, offering a wide variety of different events suitable for everyone to celebrate in a way that is most important to them. You can find out more about upcoming events in Cowbridge, and community news, at the Hub Cowbridge website.
