Goose Island Continues Support of Cancer Charity

Goose Island, the Swansea-based ladies fashion retailer and wholesaler, continues to support cancer charities with a donation of jewellery, accessories and clothing to Cancer Research UK.

The donation, with a retail value of around £10,000, is destined for the charity’s shops that are based across South West Wales to be sold as brand new items.

The Goose Island team has supported a number of other cancer charities over the years through fund raising events, fashion shows and product donations.   Fifteen years ago, they also set up their own charity, the Mumbles Cancer Charity, to enable them to raise funds directly which are then donated to other local charities.

Says Karen Hutchings, MD of Goose Island, “My husband Pete who works in business received such fantastic support when he was suffering from cancer several years ago, that we were determined to give something back to the organisations and hospital departments that helped us.  This is why we set up our own charity.

“Recently we have moved to a new head office premises and we had excess stock that we were no longer planning to sell.  So we came up with the idea of donating these items to a charity to sell in their shops – and what better charity to support than Cancer Research.”

Goose Island has further stock that they are planning to donate to Ty Hafan over the coming weeks.
